PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric transformer which is enhanced in a step-up ratio, efficiency, and output power, taking the thickness of a piezoelectric body into consideration. SOLUTION: A piezoelectric body 10 is equipped with input electrodes 12 and 14 located at its surface centers in its longer direction and output electrode 16 and 18 located at its edge faces, the center of the piezoelectric body 10 is polarized along its thickness, and both edge faces of the piezoelectric body 10 are polarized in the longer direction. By representing the entire length and thickness of the piezoelectric body 10 are by LA and LC respectively, LA and LC are so set as to set the thickness ratio LC/LA equal to 0.01 to 0.06, preferably 0.02 to 0.05 so as to improve the piezoelectric body 10 in efficiency. Furthermore, by providing the entire length LA of the piezoelectric body 10 in the longer direction and the length LB of the input electrodes 12 and 14 by LA and LB respectively, LA and LB are set to set the electrode length ratio LB/LA equal to 0.6 to 0.9, preferably 0.7 to 0.8 to improve the piezoelectric body 10 in a step-up ratio and an output power.
