PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accelerate even heating of an object by producing multiplex transmission of a microwave in a heating compartment based on microwave reflection by a dielectric layer provided in a means for opening and shutting, in a high frequency heating apparatus. SOLUTION: This heating apparatus is equipped with a means 11 for opening and shutting to put an object to be heated in and out in a heating compartment 10 and a dielectric layer 21 provided on the side facing the object to be heated with a designated gap kept from a boundary surface 20 provided in the means for opening and shutting to practically shield a microwave, and even heating is accelerated by producing multiplex transmission of the microwave in which retained energy is distributed in the heating compartment based on reflection by the dielectric layer.
