PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the size of a stereoscopic picture photographing device small, to reduce the cost and to obtain an image with high quality by allowing one lens of the stereoscopic picture photographing device to be able to pick up left and right parallactic pictures. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal control circuit 123 of a lens unit 1 receives a video signal picked up by a camera main body 2 and generates a vertical synchronizing signal and an odd/even number signal used to discriminate whether a field is an odd number field or an even number field from the video signal. Then the circuit 123 generates a left eye use liquid crystal drive signal and a right eye use liquid crystal drive signal from the generated signals to control each shutter using liquid crystal elements 102, 105 and left/right video image is alternately given to an image pickup section 20 employing a CCD. Furthermore, the lens unit 1 is provided with a distance detection means 8 that detects distance information of an object and a mirror drive of a photographing optical system 100 is controlled based on the detection information. |
