PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily check incoming of a non-informed caller's number by judging whether an incoming call is incoming of an informed caller's number or incoming of an uninformed caller's number, and only at the time of judging that the incoming call is incoming of a non-informed caller's number, driving an automatic answering telephone function. SOLUTION: When an incoming call is received by a telephone set 10, a CPU 18 judges whether the incalling call is incoming of an informed caller's number or a non-informed caller's number, and at the time of judging the incoming call as incoming of informed caller's number, controls a display lamp 21 to light up green. At the time of judging the incoming call as incoming of a non-informed caller's number, the CPU 18 controls the display lamp 21 to light up red. When an automatic answering telephone function is set up, the telephone set 10 starts automatic answering processing and is allowed to correspond to the automatic answering telephone function. When the automatic answering telephone function is not set up, the telephone set 10 is allowed to correspond to normal answering. When the automatic answering function is applied to unpleasant incoming calls such as a nuisance phone call, an unpeasant feeling can be removed when such an unpleasant incoming call is received.
