PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance electrical insulation by keeping CF3I in the vapor state when a machine using CF3I or a mixture containing CF3I as insulating coolant is in operating state. SOLUTION: A gas-insulated transformer comprises an iron core 2 and winding 3 wound on the iron core 2 housed in a transformer tank 1. The transformer tank 1 is filled with CF3I, an insulating coolant under such a pressure that the saturation pressure of CF3I at minimum temperature of t min deg.C is P min MPa and the relation between gas temperature t deg.C and gas pressure P MPa is expressed as P>=[P min/(t min+273.15)]Ν(t+273.15). A partition 5 is installed in the transformer tank 1 to separate the upper space 6 from the lower space 7 in the transformer tank 1. A cooler 10 is connected to the upper space 6 through an upper pipe 12, and connected to the lower space 7 through a lower pipe 13 with a blower 11 placed midway.
