PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To arbitrarily change a shape of an optical pulse by varying a repetition frequency of the optical pulse considerably. SOLUTION: The optical pulse generator is provided with a plurality of light sources 6 that emit light with different frequencies, a modulation means 2 that modulates the light with a prescribed frequency to generate a side band at a prescribed frequency interval and to generate modulated light, and a control means 9 that uses the modulated light from the modulation means 2 to control the frequency and the phase of the light from a plurality of the light sources emitting the optical pulses.
