PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a KANJI (Chinese character) converting method with superior operability for a portable terminal which enables a user to confirm characters to be actually registered without getting confused when registering a series of characters including KANJI. SOLUTION: When a character string 'Yokohama' is inputted by using a 10-key after KANJIs standing for 'mobile communication' is determined on a screen 104, KANJIs standing for 'Yokohama' are displayed in a reversed state (screen 108) right behind the KANJIs 'mobile communication'. When a 'reception history/↓' key is pressed in this state, 'Yokohama' in KANJI is not displayed on the screen, but only the character 'Yoko' in KANJI is reversed and displayed behind 'mobile communication' (screen 110), and an alarm sound is outputted. When the character 'Yoko' in KANJI is reversed and displayed on the screen 110, a determining operation is not done yet, so the conversion of 'Yokohama' into KANJI can be retried by pressing the 'reception history/↓' key. When a 'telephone book/select' key is pressed in this state, 'mobile communication Yoko' is determined and its characters are registered. |
