PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain a high transmission efficiency without the need for conducting complicated processing requiring much arithmetic quantity. SOLUTION: A mobile station in the radio communication system adopting a 2-frequency simplex method, where a base station transmits packet data continuously and each mobile station transmits burst data to the base station, is provided with a radio propagation path state detection circuit 22 detects a state of a radio propagation path performing communication and also with a communication control circuit 24 that selects adaptively a transmission system, informs the base station of the selected transmission system and receives data sent from the base station after the notice in the case that a timing for transmission/reception is judged not to be obtained within a prescribed time based on the radio propagation path state detected by the radio propagation path state detection circuit 22.
