PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method for calibrating a transmitter and/or a receiver while an antenna array is in use by coding a calibration signal so as to be substantially orthogonal to a communication traffic signal with a coding procedure, extracting the injected calibration signal and calibrating part of a circuit of the transmitter and/or the receiver on the basis of the extracted calibration signal. SOLUTION: A calibration signal generator 107 outputs a calibration signal that is coded so as to be substantially orthogonal to a communication traffic signal in compliance with a prescribed coding procedure to a divider 110 via a line 108, The divider 110 applies the calibration signal to a directional coupler 100 connected to a transmission line 23 through which a signal from a reception antenna array is applied to a down converter 18. Then the calibration signal is extracted and a configuration section of the transmitter and/or the receiver can be calibrated on the basis of the calibration signal. According to this method, since the usual operation of the antenna array is substantially not affected, the transmission/reception of the communication traffic signal can be continued without being interrupted even during the calibration. |
