PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charger, capable of folding the body of the charger with a charging terminal and a cradle for putting on a portable telephone in a compact shape without becoming bulky, using it by pulling out the cradle in charging, and performing data communication with external apparatuses in charging. SOLUTION: The cradle 6 of a portable telephone 100 is foldably-mounted on the body of a flat charging apparatus 2 with a power plug. A terminal 33 for charging is formed on the body of the flat charging apparatus 2, and an opening 66 which a data-communicating connector 120 of a potable telephone 100 on the cradle 6 faces. Spacers 8 are attached onto the right and left walls 22, 23 of the body of the charger 2 to keep the holding condition of the potable telephone 100 stable.
