PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to confirm images of a desired dynamic image to be retrieved at arbitrary points of time at arbitrary time intervals by an arbitrary quantity by generating thumbnails of the moving picture between a start point and an end point inputted by an input means at specified time intervals and displaying them in the time elapse order at the same time. SOLUTION: The user selects a dynamic image to be displayed out of dynamic images recorded on an optical disk loaded in an optical disk drive by operating a keyboard or mouse (S11) and inputs a time interval of images by operating the keyboard or mouse (S12). A CPU generates thumbnails of the selected dynamic image at the inputted time interval (S13), displays the generated thumbnails in the time elapse order on a CRT, and finishes the process (S14). Thus, the CRT of the personal computer simultaneously displays the image thumbnails of the dynamic image having the specific intervals while arranging them in the time elapse order.
