This invention relates to a composition, comprising: (A) a boron-containing overbased material; (B) a phosphorus acid, ester or derivative thereof; and (C) a borated epoxide or borated fatty acid ester of glycerol. In one embodiment the inventive composition further comprises (D) a thiocarbamate. These compositions are useful in providing lubricants and functional fluids, particularly automatic tra nsmission fluids, with enhanced anitwear properties. In one embodiment these compositions also provide such lubricants and functional fluids with enhanced extreme-pressure and /or friction-modifying.
