PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the waste of power consumption and to obtain a stable shift operation to ESS by changing-over a mode into the ringing incoming call one before prescribed time till shifting in the case the mode is shifted to the energy saving stand-by one in a non-ringing incoming mode state. SOLUTION: A state becomes the stand-by one after the end of transmission, reception and copying operations and the shift to the energy saving stand-by mode ESS is judged. That is, it is judged whether a software switch is set to ESS or not. The switch is changed-over in accordance with an incoming mode at the point of time and is changed-over into ringing call incoming in the case of the non-ringing incoming mode. The control state of an H relay in an NCU part 15 is stored in an RAM 3 at first and, in the case of the non- ringing incoming mode, the H relay is changed-over while the state is the stand-by one. The reset signal of ESS is outputted unless the main cause of an operation start exists for a prescribed time after the switch is set to ESS. Then a main power source to be supplied to a recording part 12 is turned off by controlling the remote signal of the power source 20.
