PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously transmit information data and control data by a single serial interface. SOLUTION: A data terminal 11 and a line terminal 12 are connected with a serial interface 13. Information data of a start-stop synchronization system are transmitted between an information data transmission line 11a of the data terminal 11 and a public telephone line or the like through an information data transmission line 12a of the line terminal 12 as sending data SD or reception data RD. Control data transmission lines 11b and 12b of the data terminal 11 and the line terminal 12 can multiply and transmit control data to a data terminal ready signal ER and a line terminal ready signal DR during transmission of the information data. The multiplied signal is separated at data separation circuits 11c and 11b on the basis of a difference of timing.
