PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the retainer inserting operation to the regularly engaged position. SOLUTION: A housing 1 is composed dividedly of a rear housing portion 1A integrally fitted with a hood 12 and a front housing portion 1B, and a side type retainer 30 and the front housing portion 1B are installed one after the other on the front surface of the rear housing portion 1A. The retainer 30 is installed previously in the provisional engagement position. An insert hole 40 for a jig G is opened in that position on the hood 12 corresponding with the outside of the oversurface of the retainer 30. In case the retainer 30 is transferred to the regular engagement position after a female side terminal metal piece 5 is inserted into a cavity 2, it is merely required to insert the jig G into the hole 40 and intrude the retainer 30.
