A resin composition comprises a cross-linked amine prepared from an aliphatic amine and a glycidyl compound having at least 2 glycidyl groups. A resin composition (I) comprises (A) a crosslinked amine compound and (B) a compound comprising (B1) an non-volatile, non-polymeric substance or (B2) a multi-valent alcohol. (A) is prepared from (A1) an aliphatic amine (A2) a glycidyl compound having at least 2 glycidyl groups per molecule and optionally (A3) an alpha , beta -unsaturated carbonyl compound, an alpha , beta -unsaturated nitrile compound or an alpha -halocarboxylic acid. Independent claims are included for (i) a coating composition (II) comprising the resin composition (I), a pigment and an aqueous binding agent and (ii) a paper substrate coated with (II).
