PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device with which a photographer can know the image storing states of a buffer memory and also can instantaneously know the number of sheets of continuous shooting in an additional shooting mode by photographing plural static images to temporarily store them, displaying and monitors the storage states of the static images and controlling the display of these images. SOLUTION: This device includes a CCD image pickup element 9 which photographs the static images, a frame memory 51 which can temporarily store plural static images, a display part 15 which shows the storage state of the memory 51 and a control circuit 14 which monitors the storage state of the memory 51 and controls the display of the part 15. The part 15 has 10 pieces of LED which are included in the viewfinder of an image pickup device and equal to the number of frames of the image data which can be stored in the memory 51. If no image data are stored in the memory 51, all LEDs are turned on and then a prescribed LED is turned off in response to storing an image into the memory 51. This state can be confirmed by a photographer during his/her shooting action.
