The raised voltage part of the voltage VM has a waveform of a projecting shape. To maintain this wave form, the capacity of a middle-stage capacitor 4 needs to be several hundreds of μ Fs. The switching loss of the switching element 3c can be reduced by switching it. An inverter 5 that converts the voltage VM into an AC reduces the switching loss by high frequency switching with the arm of switching elements Q1, Q2 only. The arm of the switching elements Q3, Q4 are used for the changeover of polarity.
