PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an implosion phenomenon of a cathode-ray tube with a panel face outside face formed into a flat shape. SOLUTION: In a cathode-ray tube with a flat panel face outside face, a shrink band 3 is installed around the outer circumference of a panel skirt 1b for fastening the panel skirt 1b and for applying force reducing an inward shift generated in a panel face 1a when a cathode-ray tube envelope is evacuated. The shrink band 3 is installed within a predetermined range from a reference position A, in which a panel face side edge part position 31 of the shrink band 3 is separated from the panel face surface by a distance of a half of a thickness Tp of the panel face central part, in the panel face direction and in the funnel direction. In addition, the predetermined range is set to be 0-25% of the thickness Tp of the panel face central part.
