PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a proximity switch that is excellent in shock resistance and of which detection range is never affected by a shock. SOLUTION: This proximity switch 1 is arranged on a board 9, and includes a case 3 and a reed switch 5 contained in the case 3; and in the proximity switch 1 of which case 3 has press fitting parts 33 retaining lead terminals 52 of the reed switch 5, the press fitted parts 33 have retention force enough to maintain the height of the reed switch 5 in the case 3 relative to the board 9, and the reed switch 5 is fixed in the case 3 only by the press fitting parts 33.
