ANTENNA SYSTEM FOR AIRPLANE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an omnidirectional pattern of both vertically/horizontally polarized waves and to be integrated into the load supporting member of an airplane structure. SOLUTION: A notch antenna is provided integrally with a wing 30 of an airplane by forming flare-shaped notches 32 and 34 of non-conductive material on the wing 30 of the airplane. The notch antenna excites the conductive part of a structure member existing at the opposite side of each notch in a feed point 40 connected to antenna feed. Thus, a high gain is brought about in every direction and performance that copes with both horizontal and vertical polarization communication functions is obtained in over VHF and UHF bands of wide ranges. The notch antenna can be provided integrally with a horizontal tail part and a vertical tail stabilizer.
