A process and assembly introduces a gas especially carbon dioxide into a liquid especially water in the manufacture of soft and alcoholic drinks. The assembly consists of a mixer (2) formed of a series of screens in which the gas and liquid intermingle. The individual screens have varying dimensions in accordance with the specific requirements. The mixer assembly is incorporated within a pipe.
