PURPOSE:To improve tone reproduction by switching a laser supply current to high or low corresponding to image data. CONSTITUTION:In a low density area, an analog switch 32a is set to a low current (IBL) side with a specified value detection signal, and a semiconductor laser is lighted with a small light quantity in accordance with the current value. In the case of showing equal to or above a specified value in a high density area, the switch 32a is switched to a high current (IBH) side and the semiconductor laser is lighted with a large light quantity. By switching the laser current to higher or low corresponding to density data, a wide density dynamic range is obtained. Thus, the toner reproduction of a final image is improved. |
