PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an organic semiconductor comprising a new aromatic amine compound, having a low ionizing potential and a low resistance in an undoped state and capable of forming a thin film without using a binder by itself. SOLUTION: This organic semiconductor comprises an aromatic amine compound represented by the formula (R is an alkyl, an aryl or an aralkyl). The compound represented by the formula is obtained by reacting an excessive amount of an aromatic secondary amine corresponding to, e.g. 4,4',4"- triiodotriphenylamine with an alkali metallic hydroxide in the presence of a catalyst such as copper (when R is the aryl or aralkyl). The organic semiconductor comprising the compound of the formula is suitable as a photoelectric conversion element or an electrochromic display element. 4,4',4"-Tris(dimethylamino) triphenylamine is exemplified as the organic semiconductor. |
