An aerobic fermentation process for the production of an end product having predetermined characteristics from a material mass comprising selected organic material, includes the steps of establishing a carbon to nitrogen ratio in the range of 20:1 to 40:1 and a moisture content of 40% to 65% by weight of the organic material, injecting a measured weight of oxygen into the material mass for varying and controlled periods of time during the fermentation process to promote the growth of thermophilic aerobic bacteria within the mass, and adding supplements usable by the thermophilic aerobic bacteria for conversion into nutrient rich substances in the end product of the fermentation process. The process may also measure the temperature acidity and oxygen content of the materials during the fermentation by means of automatically recording sensors buried in the mass, and then varying these factors to influence the type, composition and amount of the end products produced to produce a target product having a desired ratio of significant substances.
|
