FIELD: production of large-sized high wheels on vulcanite binder. SUBSTANCE: abrasive mix is rolled into a strip, the strip ends are tapered down, the strip is wound on a core, in the process of winding on the core the strip is subjected to preliminary and final packing by reduction. After that the strip wound on the core is subjected to spinning without reduction at least by three revolutions of the core. The front end of the strip is tapered down to a length equal to the length of the core circumference, at a height of the strip front end equal to the value of absolute reduction DELTAh at packing determined from dependence DELTAh-(0,15-0,25)hn, where hn - strip height, and the rear end of the strip is tapered down to a length equal to the length of the circumference of the finished wheel. The device for blank moulding has a drive cylindrical core with clamps, idle roller of strip preliminary packing, drive roller of strip final packing. The device is provided with a mechanism maintaining a constant pressure on the strip, made, for example, in the form of double-arm levers, one end of each lever is linked with the roller axles, and the other - with the rods of the air cylinders.
