An absorbent article in the form of elastic pants is assembled from an elastified substrate blank 13 having one or more apertures 6, 7 therein at the portion thereof facing the anus opening and/or the urethral opening of the user when worn. An absorbent unit 14 is arranged on the outer surface of the blank and covers the apertures. The unit is of smaller extent than the article and may consist of two separate portions.
