A bone resorption suppressing agent comprising of a milk-derived basic cystatin and/or milk-derived basic cystatin decomposition product as an effective component. The agent is particularly useful for the prevention and treatment of joint diseases or periodontal diseases. The agent further comprises highly absorbable calcium component, vitamin D and/or vitamin K, and may be admixed into drinks, food products and feed.
