The call routing reconfiguration system has a telephone terminal (telephone, facsimile or modem) which automatically answers an incoming call. The system detects the ringing tone (8) and determines whether the tone is a reconfiguration tone. If the tone is recognised a reconfiguration, then the reconfiguration is carried out and the telephone disconnected. Otherwise, after a set time period the telephone call is redirected and rings local number.
