<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the reflection luminance when a liquid crystal layer is transparent to a level corresponding to a black level sufficiently small with a reflection type liquid crystal display device of a light scattering mode containing rugged reflection electrodes. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device has a substrate 101, a transparent substrate 105, light scattering liquid crystals 103 which are arranged between the substrate 101 and the transparent substrate 105 and have both of forward scattering components and backward scattering components, reflection electrodes 102a, 102b and 102c which are arranged between the substrate 101 and the light scattering liquid crystals 103 and have rugged shapes on the light scattering liquid crystal 103 side, transparent electrodes 104 which are arranged between the transparent substrate 105 and the light scattering liquid crystals 103 and light scattering layers 115a, 115b and 115c which are arranged in places nearer the substrate 101 than the spacings between the respective reflection electrodes of the reflection electrodes 102a, 102b and 102c.</p> |
