摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the production yield of an optical multiplexer- demultiplexer and to reduce its production cost. SOLUTION: The optical multiplexer-demultiplexer is formed by an array waveguide type diffraction grating constituted of plural array waveguides formed by a glass material and having mutually different wavelengths in parallel and capable of multiplexing light components having mutually different wavelengths or demultiplexing light components of one or more wavelengths from light having mutually different wavelengths. When the center wavelength of light multiplexed by the array waveguide or that of light demultiplexed by the optical multiplexing-demultiplexing part exists on the short wavelength side from a previously determined set wavelength (1550 nm) as shown in a characteristic line (a), the optical multiplexer-demultiplexer is heated at 700 deg.C less than the glass transition temperature of the glass material for 96 hours e.g. to correct the center wavelength of light multiplexed by the array waveguide and that of light demultiplexed by the optical multiplexing-demultiplexing part to the long wavelength side as shown by a characteristic line (b) and determine the corrected value as a set wavelength.
