PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the photographic sensitive material superior in color reproduction performance and image stability under applicaction of light and storage stability by incorporating a magenta dye forming coupler in one of silver halide emulsion layers and regulating a molar ratio of the silver halide to the magenta coupler in the same emulsion layer in a specified range. SOLUTION: At least one of the silver halide emulsion layers formed on a support contains the magenta dye forming coupler represented by formula I or II, and a molar ratio of the silver halide to the magenta coupler in the same emulsion layer is controlled to 3.1-3.7. In formulae I and II, RM1 is an H atom or a substituent; each of RM2 and RM3 is an alkyl group; each of RM4 and RM5 is an H atom or an alkyl group; JM is a -O-C(=O)- group or the like; RM6 is an alkyl or aryl group or the like; and XM is an H or halogen atom or a group to be released by reaction with the oxidation product of a color developing agent.
