ELECTRODE SUBSTRATE AND ITS PRODUCTION AS WELL AS LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY ELEMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the flatness of an electrode substrate formed on an insulating layer in such a manner that the conductive wiring comes into conductive contact with the transparent electrodes on the insulating layer. SOLUTION: A photosensitive resin layer 24 is formed to cover the striped conductive wiring 22 and the spaces between each of the conductive wiring 22 on a transparent substrate 21 and thereafter, the photosensitive resin layer 24 covering the conductive wiring 22 is at least partly removed. A transparent conductive film is formed on the photosensitive resin layer 24 and the conductive wiring 22 and the transparent electrodes 27... are formed by patterning the transparent conductive film. The high flatness may be assured with such electrode substrate if the difference between the height of the build-up parts formed in the peripheral parts at the ends of the conductive wiring 22 by the exposure of the conductive wiring 22 as a result of the removal of the photosensitive resin layer 24 covering the conductive wiring 22 and the height of the nearly flat surface of the photosensitive resin layer 24 in the portions where the conductive wiring 22 are not formed as well as the difference between the height of the build-up parts and the surface of the conductive wiring 22 are both <=0.1μm in such an electrode substrate.
