PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a panoramic image and a whole-sky image which do not have the unnaturalness of a joint and whose resolution is arbitrarily set by giving a means to obtain the position of the principal point and the viewing angle of a camera and the means or the like to align the center of rotation of the camera in the horizontal and/or vertical directions with the position of the principal point of the camera. SOLUTION: A signal for controlling zooming and focusing quantities of a lens 1 is outputted by a zooming focusing iris controller 13, and respective elements are controlled at a driving mechanism 7. Then, the zooming and focusing quantities are transmitted to a computer 10 from a sensor 8 via a data collecting unit 9, and the position of the principal point and the viewing angle of the camera are automatically read out from a three-dimensional table based on its quantity. An electric signal which is equivalent to the position of the principal point and the viewing angle read out is converted into a panning drive signal (b), a tilting drive signal (c) and the optical axis direction moving signal (d) of the camera, by passing through a servocontroller 11 and a drive amplifier 12, so that the rotation of drive motors 3, 4 and 6 on the side of a remote controlled universal head 2 is controlled.
