摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for increasing the transmittance of an element for separating polarized light on which a periodical lattice made of a polydiacetylene deriv. film is formed. SOLUTION: A polydiacetylene deriv. film 11 formed on the surface of a glass substrate 10 is selectively irradiated with UV rays to form a periodical lattice 12. In this process, a photomask 15 having a periodical lattice pattern is disposed on the polydiacetylene deriv. film 11, and a filter 30 is disposed thereon. The filter 30 is a band-pass filter having 245 nm center wavelength and 240 to 270 nm transmission wavelength range. The film 11 is irradiated with UV rays through the filter 30 to form a periodical lattice 12. The obtd. element for separating polarized light with the periodical lattice 12 thus formed has about 92% transmittance, which means that the transmittance can be increased by about 10% compared to a conventional element.
