PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner having a refrigeration cycle formed such that refrigerant can be stored efficiently in the heat exchanger of a stopping indoor unit when only a part of a plurality of indoor units coupled with outdoor units are operating. SOLUTION: A compressor 1, a four-way valve 2, an outdoor heat exchanger 3, a first expansion valve 4, a first indoor heat exchanger 10, a second expansion valve 5, and a second indoor heat exchanger 11 are coupled in series wherein the first expansion valve 4 and the first indoor heat exchanger 10 are coupled in parallel with the second expansion valve 5 and the second indoor heat exchanger 11 to form a refrigeration cycle. In such a multiple type air conditioner, a first solenoid valve 12 is disposed between the four-way valve 2 and the first indoor heat exchanger 10, a second solenoid valve 13 is disposed between the four-way valve 2 and the second indoor heat exchanger 11, the piping coupled in parallel with the outdoor heat exchanger 3, the first indoor heat exchanger 10 and the second indoor heat exchanger 11 is provided with a side passage 14' and a third solenoid valve 14 is arranged in the side passage. |
