摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal electrooptical device having high reflectance by optimizing the setting of (Δn.d) of a liquid crystal and the angle between the rubbing direction of an upper substrate and the polarization direction of incident light. SOLUTION: A polarizer is disposed only on the upper substrate 1 side of a reflection type liquid crystal cell, a liquid crystal 17 is subjected to twist alignment and the product (Δn.d) of the index of double refraction (Δn) of the liquid crystal 17 and the thickness (d) of the reflection type liquid crystal cell is 0.15-0.35 μm. The angle (θ) between the rubbing direction of the upper substrate and the polarization direction of light incident on the reflection type liquid crystal cell is set in the range of 0-40 deg. in the twist direction of the liquid crystal.
