PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display device, capable of efficiently cooling an optical modulation device and stably securing image quality over a long period. SOLUTION: An optical modulation device 925, constituted of a projection type display device, is stored inside the hermetically sealed part that consists of a sealing box 80 and a head body 903, and the air inside the hermetically sealed part is circulated by an air circuit passage 90, which is arranged in a cooling flow passage inside the display device on the side of a projection lens 6. Since the air circuit passage 90 is arranged in the cooling flow passage, the air inside as well as the air circuit passage 90 is cooled, enabling the optical modulation device 925 to be cooled efficiently by this air circulation. |
