PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent passage of residual toner through end-sealing mechanisms and to improve the cleaning performance of a cleaner. SOLUTION: In each end-sealing mechanism of a cleaner, the cross section is almost circular in shape, at least a peripheral part is made of an elastic material, and first and second end-sealing members 27A and 27B, whose peripheral faces about against the surface of the image carrier 11, are provided. The first and second end-sealing members 27A and 27B are disposed upstream and downstream, respectively, in the direction of the movement of the surface of the image carrier than the abutting position P1 of a cleaning member 24 against the surface of the image carrier 11. The first end-sealing members 27A are rotated in the direction, in which they follow the movement of the surface of the image carrier 11. The second end-sealing members 27B are rotated in a direction opposite to the direction of the movement of the surface of the image carrier 11. |
