PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the processing burden of the CPU of a camera main body and to simplify the processing by judging the function of an interchangeable lens itself by the interchangeable lens part and judging the function of the camera main body by the camera main body part. SOLUTION: The interchangeable lens is freely attached/detached to/from both a camera body capable of exposing an object image on a silver salt film and a camera body capable of picking up an image on an imaging device. In this case, it is discriminated by the lens CPU 1 for controlling the prescribed operation of the interchangeable lens 100 that the interchangeable lens is mounted on which of the camera bodies, then, the propriety of the operation is automatically judged by the CPU 1 based on the discrimination result.
