[Also in Division D1] A copolymer is composed of 75 to 99 weight per cent of units of formula wherein R is -H or -CH 3 and Q is the residue of an alkyl group having 4 to 22 carbon atoms and 9 to 45 hydrogen atoms, of which hydrogen atoms between 75 and 90% have been replaced by fluorine atoms and the terminal group of Q is -CF 3 or -CHF 2 , being -CHF 2 when R is -CH 3 , the remaining units being from at least one other monomer copolymerizable therewith. Monomers specified are styrene, methyl methacrylate, vinyl acetate, methacrylic acid, acrolein, acrylamide, N-methylol acrylamide, glycidyl methacrylate, alkylaminoethyl methacrylate, and vinyl triethoxysilane. The copolymers are preferably made by aqueous emulsion techniques. |
