PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the operation noise of a compressor upon starting the operation of a refrigerating cycle. SOLUTION: A compressor 15 in a refrigerating cycle 16 is a reciprocating type and the variable speed driving of a built-in motor for driving the compressor 15 is effected by an inverter circuit. Upon the starting of operation of the refrigerating cycle 16, the operating frequency of the motor is increased in a first control step to 30 Hz within 2.5 sec, then, is increased in a second control step to 40 Hz with the increasing rate of 3 Hz/sec and a condition that the frequency is retained in 40 Hz is retained in a third control step for 30 sec while the operating frequency is shifted thereafter to a frequency in accordance with the condition of normal control.
