A package 2 comprises a number of individual segments separated by intersecting tear lines 8, 10. Each tear line is formed by a series of weaknesses in a line enabling tearing apart of individual segments. At each intersection 12 of the tear lines a length of weakness in one of the tear lines 8 intersects with a length of weakness in the other tear line 10 intermediate of the lengths of weakness in both tear lines 8, 10. The lengths of weakness which intersect at the intersections 12 of the tear lines may be longer than the lengths of weakness between the intersecting lengths of weakness in each tear line. A knife comprising a number of intersecting blades, for forming the tear lines including the intersecting lengths of weakness, is claimed.
