PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a time lapse display that can be applied regardless of the storage environment of a material and a material control system that uses the time lapse display device. SOLUTION: An operator inputs the usage limit of a material into a data- processing part 3 of the time lapse display as data D2, and at the same time, sets a mark 6 to the 'START' position of a dial 5. A time lapse detection part 2 continuously detects the lapse of time, and inputs it into the data- processing part 3 as data D1. The data-processing part 3 executes the operation of the 'data D2' - 'data D1', and outputs, as data D3, the remaining usage period of the material being obtained as the operation result. A display part 4 places the mark 6 on the dial 5 for moving from the 'START' to 'END' according to the data D3, thus displaying the remaining usage period of the material at the display part 4 as the position of the mark 6 that is moved on the dial 5 based on the data D3.
