PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an immunoassay capable of performing a wide range of accurate determination without performing dilution without the occurrence of agglutination due to non-specific reaction and performing highly sensitive and speedy measurement. SOLUTION: In this immunoassay, which is a method for determining a substance to be determined, at the time of determining a substance in a sample, an insoluble carrier obtained by sensitizing an antigen or an antibody to the substance to be determined is mixed with a sample in a solution to cause an agglutination reaction due to an antigen-antibody reaction, and the amount of change in the absorbance of an agglutination reactant liquid is determined and collated with a calibration curve. Here, characteristically, latex particles are used as the insoluble carrier (1). A sensitizer of 0.1-5 wt.% formed of water- soluble high molecular is contained in the solution (2), and a non-ionic surface active agent of 5-5,000 ppm is contained in the solution (3). The agglutination reaction is performed at a constant temperature for 5 seconds to 15 minutes (4). The amount of change in absorbance is the amount of increase in absorbance associated with the progress of the agglutination reaction.
