PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure objectivity and reliability of uniformity evaluation results by performing quantitative and multi-dimensional evaluation. SOLUTION: Display screen of a cathode ray tube to be evaluated is read out optically (S20), a chromaticity data at a specified part on the display screen is obtained from the read out results (S30, S40), an evaluation result values are calculated for a plurality of predetermined evaluation terms based on the chromaticity data (S50), the calculated evaluation result values are expressed in terms of evaluation result rank values according to a preset conversion table (S60), and uniformity evaluation values for the display screen of the cathode ray tube are calculated from the rank values obtained for the plurality of evaluation terms (S70).
