PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately store the remaining quantity of a fuel, irrespective of the waving of the fuel liq. surface by storing the indicated value of remaining quantity of the fuel, based on the indicated value of remaining fuel quantity calculated after a fixed time elapsed from the ignition switch-off. SOLUTION: When a vehicle is horizontal and the ignition (IGN) switch is set off, the indicated value of remaining quantity of a fuel is stored after a fixed time elapsed from the ignition switch-off, i.e., in a stable state of the fuel liq. surface, thus accurately storing the indicated value of the remaining quantity, without being influenced by the waving of the fuel liq. surface, if any. When the IGN switch is off in a non-horizontal state, the indicated value of remaining fuel quantity shown in an indicating means 7 is stored in a memory means 8, and an indicated value of remaining fuel quantity obtained by canceling the change of the fuel liq. level in the fuel tank of the vehicle being stopping on a slope can be stored in the memory means 8. Thus the fuel remaining quantity subjected to the change of the fuel liq. level in the fuel tank of the vehicle being stopping on a slope is never indicated just after the IGN switch is set on.
