PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester resin giving a molded article having excellent transparency and thermal dimensional stability, especially a hollow-molded article such as a container. SOLUTION: The objective polyester resin contains ethylene terephthalate as main repeating unit and satisfies the following conditions (a), (b) and (c). (a) When an amorphous article molded from the polyester resin is heated at 140 deg.C for 80 sec, the density is <=1.338 (g/cm3) and the density increase rate at 140 deg.C is 0.3×10-3 to 0.8×10-3 (g/(cm3.sec)), (b) when the above amorphous molded article is heated at 180 deg.C for 30 sec, the density is <=1.338 (g/cm3) and the density increase rate at 180 deg.C is 1.0×10-3 to 3.0×10-3 (g/(cm3.sec)) and (c) the haze of a molded article drawn by a specific method is <=2.0% and the haze of a molded article drawn and heat-set by a method specified in the specification is <=5.0%.
