PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a display character easy to see even when an interlace video signal is converted to a non-interlace video signal to be displayed on a liquid crystal monitor. SOLUTION: The non-interlace video signal is formed from the interlace video signal, and a map is displayed on a liquid crystal screen 36 by the non- interlace video signal. In such a case, (1) when the map is scrolled manually and continuously for a prescribed time or above, the non-interlace video signal is generated at every (n) pictures by control of a memory controller 34, and the map is scroll displayed intermittently on the liquid crystal screen, and (2) at other times, the non-interlace video signal is formed at every one picture, and the map is scroll displayed continuously on the liquid crystal screen.
