PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit the surface of a photoreceptor from being made hydrophilic by corona discharge, to suppress the reduction of the surface resistance of the photoreceptor in a high humidity environment and to prevent image smearing and blurring by incorporating a long chain alkyl-containing urea compound into the top layer of the photoreceptor. SOLUTION: A long chain alkyl-containing urea compound is incorporated into the top layer of a photoreceptor. The urea compound is not particularly limited if it has a urea bond (-NHCONH-) but a urea compound having one or more >=10C alkyl groups is preferably used. The urea compound improves the surface lubricity of the photoreceptor and reduces wear due to friction with a contact member. The photoconductive layer of the photoreceptor may be any of laminate type and monolayer type but a laminate type layer which avoids the direct contact of an electric charge generating material liable to the reduction of the sensitivity and electrostatic chargeability by corona discharge with corona discharge products and ozone is preferably adopted.
